I smile because I know I made it through the worst times of my life. When I was a child going through abuse, I didn't think I'd ever have a life I could be proud of. I felt trapped, like I might suffocate from all the pain and anguish. And while many people find release in many ways, mine came through a personal walk with God, not overnight, but over time as I began to share with other hurting people.
You don't have to sell yourself short because life threw you a curve ball very early on. In fact, you should look at it as a silver lining that you have the rest of your life to overcome it and become someone better, someone who would never cause that kind of pain to another person.
